A long-time presence in the local area hobby scene, the Virginia Beach HobbyTown USA store is a fixture in the Southside modelling community. Based on experience, not all HT-USA franchises are equal so it is fortunate that “our” store is so well equipped with a wide array of supplies and inventory, making it one of the better storefronts in the nation. Sited in the Loehman’s Plaza shopping center on Virginia Beach Boulevard, it is relatively convenient for most folks from Norfolk, VA Beach, Chesapeake and Portsmouth. Besides the regular stock, special orders can be made by the friendly staff which is fairly knowledgeable about nearly everything they carry. Two large wall display cases have been allocated to the TAMS & HRSM club promotional displays, while other cases throughout the store highlight the work of local hobbyists. Besides the R/C and scale modeling products, the model railroading, rocketry, kite, coin collecting and war gaming enthusiasts are well served. To the rear of the store is a large activity room with a slot car racing track and facility for gaming ‘terrain’ and work tables. For the youngest, various educational ‘toys’ are catered along with a selection of diecast vehicles. The pictures below illustrate the scope of the store’s coverage of the various hobby interests.
The store’s management has stayed supportive and engaged with all the local organized groups, maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship with the community. (Store contact & hours info is at bottom.)

As a modeler with a variety of interests, this is the go-to place for my needs. It doesn’t matter if I am looking for model cars, n-scale trains, or gliders, Hobby town has it, or can get it. They take the time to listen to questions or just chat, they are there for me. Their biggest interest seems to be R/C, which I am not into, but I never feel ignored.
