Remarkable! The IPMS/Richmond guys are consistently getting better each year in putting on their annual ODO model show & contest. It helps that the Richmond Raceway facilities have been nicely updated with better lighting and new accommodations but even with an earlier opening time, everything clicked along all day without nary any apparent glitch or hitch. The only issues seen have nothing to do with the club – and so nitpicking, primarily the handicapped access through the front gates (the large “LOVE” ‘sculpture’ at the Raceway entrance blocks wheelchair access past it without going into the driveway…) The day was almost a “themed” event as the ODO hall was flanked by a doll collector’s show and a toy show. Keep this up, and it will become an annual winter festival for ‘serious play’.
The below images show a range of impressions from the show and specifically some of the fine modeling that was presented. Beautiful, sunny weather, plenty of parking, a great turnout of vendors and modelers – one of the best ODO shows in recent memory. Congratulations to IPMS/Richmond on a fine job.
